Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Experimental and Clinical Traumatology

In line with the major policies of the university and for the expansion of international relations, the first international guests of the university from Austria after the Persian New Year visited the university a number of subsidiary centers. This visit took place with the invitation of the Department of Pharmacology of the School of Medicine and with the efforts of Dr. Niknejad, faculty member of the Department of Pharmacology hosted by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor of International Affairs on the 9th of April. 

Dr. Heinz Redl, professor and director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Experimental and Clinical Traumatology, Austria, and Dr. Sohail Bahrami, professor of the university and the deputy director of the institute and chairman of the International Federation of Shock Society (IFSS), began their visit to the comprehensive laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy under the direction of Dr. Kobarfard. In this visit, Professor Redl cited the expectations of the facilities and projects of this laboratory, and for the purpose of establishing scientific-research links between their institute and the university, through joint projects, the exchange of researcher and staffs, and agreed to conclude a Memorandum of Cooperation. 

Following the visit and with the prior coordination of Dr. Niknejad, the Austrian delegation as a lecturer attended the first symposium on tissue engineering and medical rehabilitation in the trauma at the Ibn Sina Hall located at the school of medicine. Following, Dr. Niknejad as the secretary of the symposium and Dr. Mafi, the international advisor and representative of international affairs welcomed and introduced, the guests and they presented their lectures on "application of stem cells in emergency medicine" by Professor Bahrami and "recent advances in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine" by Professor Redl. 

Subsequently, after the symposium, the Austrian delegation along with Dr. Mafi and Dr. Niknejad visited the tissue repair department of Taleghani hospital under the supervision of Dr. Haji Fatali. 

At the end of the visit, and at a meeting hosted by the Vice-Chancellor of Research and Technology, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in tissue and medical engineering between the university and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Experimental and Clinical Traumatology, Austria, for the purpose of joint research projects, exchange of faculty staff, student and researcher was signed.
